Food Waste Recycling in your Hall

All pantries have food waste bins.

This post applies to: College Hall, Connaught Hall, Nutford House and International Hall.

Waste food has a big impact on climate change, but recycling inedible food waste transforms it into energy, and you’d be amazed at the good use it can be put to.

• Did you know, for instance, that nine recycled banana peels could generate enough energy to fully charge a laptop? 
• Or that a caddy load of food waste could generate enough electricity to power a home for almost an hour, or a guitar amp for almost 2½ hours?

When you put it like that, why wouldn’t you recycle your unwanted food waste!

Please try your best to keep the food waste caddy clear of drips/spills. If the caddy is full, do not overload it, keep the lid closed, and instead put your food in the General Waste. Be kind to the cleaners and do your best to keep the bin tidy.
